Business EHS Project Manager (Developmental Role for a Mill Leader of EHS, Operations or Engineering)

ACTUAL POSITION LEVEL (PL) WILL RANGE FROM 15-16 BASED UPON EXPERIENCE

The Business EHS Project Manager Role is a developmental role for a future leadership position in EHS, Operations, or Engineering in a US mill.  The incumbent will report to the business EHS Manager for Containerboard and support the 17 mills in the business by:

  • Leading and facilitating business specific EHS improvement initiatives that require business input and alignment
  • Facilitate business participation and support of the enterprise deliberate improvement initiatives that are led by the EHS COE.
  • Facilitating EHS execution in mills on enterprise or global manufacturing initiatives (e.g., GMS, Performance Standards, Program Elements, Alerts) by partnering with EHS COE implementation teams.
  • Providing on-site EHS support to Containerboard mills as the business reacts to upsets, LIFE events, environmental events and outage work requiring EHS oversite.
  • Facilitating the sharing of best practices between Containerboard mills to improve business alignment in safety and environmental controls that will provide layers of defense against EHS upsets.
  • Tracking, analyzing and reporting of the mill/business gap assessments for performance standard, program elements and alerts.
  • Lead and facilitate EHS best practice sharing and implementation within the Containerboard business and across mill businesses.
     

Key Accountabilities:
Support the Containerboard business management systems, including:

  • Regulatory capital coordination for Containerboard
  • Business EHS initiative implementation and input to EHS COE
  • Integrated Containerboard mill monthly calls, information sharing, and coordination of mill input
  • Engaging with EHS improve organization to provide business input from mills on performance standard, program element and alert development.
  • EHS crisis/significant event coordination of mill support
  • Waste Water System “Blue Book” execution within the business
     

Position Requirements:

  • 7 or more years of engineering, operations or EHS experience in a manufacturing environment.  Specific experience in safety or environment as an individual contributor or supervisor is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering or other related degree is preferred.
  • Demonstrated safety leadership capacity. Participation in IP’s safety leadership training is preferred.
  • Strong written & verbal communication skills; presentation and training delivery skills.
  • Position will be located in Memphis; however, must be open to a future assignment at a mill location.  Must be open to at least 50% of our current US mill locations.
  • Must have the ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
