The Position
The Environment, Health, Safety & Security (EHS&S) Senior Manager will be responsible for implementation of the Heico EHS&S Management System at two production sites within the Heico Metal Processing Group. 

The position will be based in one of two locations; 5555 Irwindale Avenue, Irwindale, CA OR 19411 80th Avenue South Kent, WA, but will be required to work at the none-base location approximately 50% of the time. 

The successful manager will support operations and implement the EHS&S system both directly, through the management of site-level EHS specialists and leverage of business level or corporate level functional resources.   This position must be an effective liaison and influencer with senior site and business leadership, corporate EHS&S and site level customers. This position will have duel reporting responsibilities directly and functionally to the US Wire EHS&S Director and administratively to an operations leader at the base site.  In addition to formal reporting lines, this position will maintain a strong customer relationship with Irwindale and Kent US Wire leadership and workforce.

Key responsibilities for this role are as follows:

  • Develops, implements and maintains effective EHS&S programs necessary to comply with applicable regulations, Heico EHS&S management system and US Wire or site program expectations and strategy
  • Maintain a liaison and direct support role with senior site and business leadership; The ability to balance a customer service role and governance role is a critical aspect of this responsibility
  • Manage, coach, support and develop site EHS&S resources to ensure effective performance for tasks and responsibilities within the capabilities of the site personnel
  • Hands-on site support and service for EH&S tasks and responsibilities that are outside the capabilities or experience of site personnel
  • Not a consultant/auditor role, a hands-on resource accountable for site-level EHS&S performance through the application of leadership skills, systems principles and technical expertise
  • Collaboration with corporate and US Wire EHS&S staff in the development and continuous improvement of the management system, EHS&S services and EHS&S tools
  • Facilitate and teach EHS&S incident investigation and root cause analysis.  Participates and/or lead near miss/accident/unsafe act/condition investigations and development of corrective actions

 

Job Requirements

  • Minimum 8 years industrial environmental, health and safety experience, including a minimum of 3 years at the senior role, in a heavy manufacturing environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in health and safety or environmental disciplines.  Advanced functional certification (e.g. CSP) enhanced by significant practical experience will be considered alternative to bachelor level academic qualifications.
  • Travel 50% - between Kent, WA and Irwindale, CA
