Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist

The Environmental Health and Safety Specialist (EHS) is responsible for inspiring a collaborative safety culture at the Bethlehem, Pennsylvania Fulfillment Center.  The right candidate for the EHS Specialist role will thrive on deploying programs that drive positive health and well-being of our associates and business process improvement.  This role is responsible for maintaining safe, reliable, and compliant operations.  The EHS Specialist will report directly to the Site EHS Manager

Schedule: Monday-Thursday 2:00PM-12:30AM

Responsibilities include:

  • In coordination with the EHS Manager, implement EHS procedures
  • Conduct audits, recommend improvements, and ensure compliance with EHS procedures and regulatory requirements
  • Perform daily safety and security walk-throughs, make recommendations to reduce risk, and take action to correct compliance deficiencies
  • Actively participate in developing and implementing associate awareness programs and training
  • Ensure safe work procedures are followed by all employees.  Train associates on requirements and standards
  • Facilitate associate-driven safety committees
  • Investigate EHS incidents and ensure high quality root cause analysis
  • Maintain database of incident metrics and produce safety-related reports
  • Ensure worker’s comp process is defined / followed.  Participate in claim reviews and decisions related to transitional work/light duty
  • Ability to support a 24/7 operation and willingness to work evening shift

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 1 - 4 years’ experience in EHS
  • Requires college degree or course study/experience related to EHS
  • Self-motivated. Proactive approach and good project management skills
  • Ability to work closely with all levels of an organization to resolve issues
  • Prefer experience supporting Safety and Ergonomic risk mitigation in warehouse, distribution / fulfillment center, or logistics setting preferably with a mix of exempt and non-exempt employees of +/- 500 people.  
  • Good working knowledge of EHS federal, state, and local regulations (OSHA, NFPA)
  • Strong critical thinking and effective root cause analysis skills
  • Adapts well to changing environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer skills (Word, PowerPoint and Excel)
