Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager

ARC Technologies LLC the leading manufacturer of RF and EMI absorbing materials for defense and wireless applications worldwide is recruiting for an experienced Environmental, Health and Safety Manager. 

Summary: 
Reporting to the Director of Operations this position will lead, in concert with the management team, the plants’ safety, health and environmental policies and practices by identifying and anticipating concerns and hazards; developing, documenting and enforcing policies, practices and procedures; and conducting studies and investigations to insure compliance. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 

  • Facilitating compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, company EHS policies, all permit requirements, and oversight and/or submittal of required periodic reports to regulatory agencies
  • Overseeing waste management practices, 
  • Developing and coordinating emergency response preparedness, response and plans. 
  • Developing and implementing EHS awareness and training programs to facilitate an understanding by operations of their EHS compliance obligations. 
  • Conducting self-assessments and evaluating processes to reduce environmental liability and reduce cost. Track assessment and audit findings and report to their status to management.
  • Developing and maintaining primary relationships and points of contact with regulators and the community. 
  • Developing and maintaining waste management processes/programs, including profiling waste streams, training operations on waste management procedures and regulations, cost effectively assigning disposal facilities. 
  • Conducting periodic due diligence assessments of Waste treatment/disposal facilities for compliance with all SPCC, and SWPPP Plans. 
  • Ensuring Bio-safety program is in compliance with applicable EPA regulations and company policies
  • Training contractors on site-specific EHS programs policies
  • Conducting incident investigations and reporting same
  • MSDS’s – incoming, outgoing and annual review
  • Provide Training – Respirator, Fork Truck, Lockout-Tagout, etc.
  • Familiar with Combustible Materials, Metallic Powder, Syntactic Foam, Probenol, Heptane, Chomium, etc
     

Technical Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, environmental management, industrial safety, or related field
  • Excellent working knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations
  • 10 years of experience in relevant industry such as chemical, pulp and paper, ethanol or refineries.
     

Critical Competencies:

  • Demonstrated experience and aptitude to work collaboratively with corporate office, other locations and local management team to reach corporate goals
  • Attention to detail and ability to pursue issues to resolution
  • Ability to drive a culture of safety and influence safe operations
  • Knowledgeable of current industry trends, practices and benchmarks and an advocate for EH&S function
  • Ability to communicate clearly with presentation skills and effective writing.
