Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager

The EHS Manager provides expert guidance and serves as a strategic partner as it relates to safety, workers compensation and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulatory requirements. As a strategic partner, this position develops, drives and administers company initiatives and programs to drive a culture of safety, manage claims and to ensure adherence to applicable regulatory and Company requirements.

Essential Functions: 

  • Partner with management and operations teams to execute Company safety policies and programs and ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state and local regulations
  • Ensure leadership and employees are trained and knowledgeable of their responsibilities regarding safety.
  • Conduct consultative on-site reviews of procedures, facilities, equipment and documentation to verify compliance and safe working environment.  Implement solutions to eliminate exposure to risks and prevent injuries.
  • Provide guidance to management in implementation of corrective actions related to consultative review and inspections by regulatory agencies, such as OSHA. 
  • Implement and maintain mandatory safety programs and training, such as Powered Industrial Trucks, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Material Handling, Lockout/Tagout, Hearing Conservation, Heat Illness, Bloodborne Pathogens
  • Participates with local emergency response agencies ensuring that there is site preparedness for any crisis
  • Review and analyze jobs and tasks and create Job Hazard/Job Safety Analysis as needed.
  • Design, develop and implement safety training programs, including train-the-trainer, and audit for compliance and effectiveness.
  • Maintain OSHA 300 logs and other required documentation for compliance
  • Oversee accident investigations
  • Develop safety metrics and review incidents to discover trends and recommends solutions to reduce risks and further a culture of a safe work environment
  • Lead and coordinate safety and driver safety committees
  • Workers’ Compensation
  • Gather and review accident information and report workers compensation and vehicle claims to carriers
  • Manage workers’ compensation cases and coordinate return-to-work
  • Compile and review data, establish metrics
  • Department of Transportation (DOT) Regulations
  • Track all driver credentials (License, Medical Cards, etc.) and send renewal notification reports to Site Managers
  • Assist in Driver Annual Review process to include request for MVR’s and distribution/collection of certificates of violation
  • Assist in completing all driver safety performance history checks and Department of Transportation (DOT) drug/alcohol history checks
  • Track and maintain all DOT required training records in accordance with FMCSR
  • Maintain current knowledge of regulatory requirements and update management of changes and implement policies and procedures to address
  • Accurate and timely completion of projects and/or reports
  • Represent the company at meetings and conferences
