Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Officer

Job Description:

Ensure safety, industrial hygiene (IH) and environmental policies and procedures are upheld by working closely with management personnel and employees at all levels to further develop the facilities Safety and Environmental Systems.


  • Implement and maintain applicable SOPs to ensure compliance with OSHA and MOSH regulations
  • Conducts inspections and audits; investigates incidents and drive accountability to resolve any issues
  • Perform and provide training material for departmental and corporate trainings
  • Maintain SDS inventory
  • Coordinate with toxicologist for OEL/ADE reports; assess proper engineering controls; write handling instructions for the APl/product
  • Prepares and maintains all EHS documentation andreporting deadlines, communicates withgovernmental agencies
  • Monitors federal, state and municipal regulatorychanges to ensure future compliance. Serve as a primary liaison between this location and regulatory entities when required

Environmental Management:

  • Ensure compliance with county, state and federal regulations.
  • Air and Water Monitoring and Regulations
  • Oversees proper handling anddisposal of all Waste (non-hazardous, hazardous, universal and biohazardous)

Industrial Hygiene:

  • Arrange for IH air monitoring of manufacturing rooms and containment equipment; review data; write summary reportswhen required
  • Coordinate with toxicologist for OEL/ADE reports; maintaindatabase for all relevant API information
  • Maintain Cleanability assessment reports and formF1073 (list of API cleaning categories)
  • Provide support for QRMP reports to assess and manage risks for cross contamination
  • Provide analysis and interpretations of EHS findingsand prepare technical plans and reports as required
  • Responsible for communicating all relevant EHS information to managementand employees

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • BS in chemistry or related physical/biological science, or a minimum of five years of EHS exp. in an industrial/manufacturing environment
  • Familiar with laboratory and manufacturing operations
  • Familiar with local, state and federal environmental regulations, OSHA/MOSH, EPA, and DOT
  • Familiar with Air permit Compliance is a plus
  • Must have strong communication skills with the ability to speak in public; ability to work in a team environment
  • Strong math and writing skills
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks and priorities and adapt to changing situations
  • Strong analytical ability is required in order togather and summarize data for reports, find solutions to various EHS issues andprioritize work
  • Knowledge of cGMP
  • HAZMAT certified
