Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Program & Certification Manager


Promote worksite or product safety by applying knowledge of industrial processes, mechanics, chemistry, psychology, and industrial health and safety laws.  The general responsibilities of the certification manager are to develop and maintain the procedures required under the certifications held. 


  • Compile, analyze, and interpret statistical data related to occupational illnesses and accidents.
  • Conduct or coordinate worker training in areas such as safety laws and regulations, hazardous condition monitoring, and use of safety equipment.
  • Conduct or direct testing as needed of air quality, noise, temperature, or radiation levels to verify compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Confer with medical professionals to assess health risks and to develop ways to manage health issues and concerns.
  • Evaluate adequacy of actions taken to correct health inspection violations.
  • Inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure safety regulation compliance.
  • Interpret safety regulations for others interested in industrial safety such as safety engineers, labor representatives, and safety inspectors.
  • Interview employers and employees to obtain information about work environments and workplace incidents.
  • Investigate industrial accidents, injuries, or occupational diseases to determine causes and preventive measures.
  • Maintain and apply knowledge of current policies, regulations, and industrial processes.
  • Maintain liaisons with outside organizations such as fire departments, mutual aid societies, and rescue teams, so that emergency responses can be facilitated.
  • Plan and conduct industrial hygiene research.
  • Provide technical advice and guidance to organizations on how to handle health-related problems and make needed changes.
  • Recommend process and product safety features that will reduce employees' exposure to chemical, physical, and biological work hazards.
  • Report or review findings from accident investigations, facilities inspections, or environmental testing.
  • Review employee safety programs to determine their adequacy.
  • Review plans and specifications for construction of new machinery or equipment to determine whether all safety requirements have been met.
  • Write and revise internal safety regulations and codes.
  • Read  and understand the E-Stewards, NAID, RIOS, R2 ISO 140001, OSAS 180001 and ITAR certificationsAssist in training for new hires and continuing education for current staff on certificates and responsibilities.
  • Act as Lead audits for recertification.
  • Provide direction and prepare all necessary reports in advance
  • Confirm all reporting is in compliance
  • Verify new outlets as downstream and update and Maintain the downstream approved vendor list
  • Get the necessary documents from potential downstreams
  • Verify information is accurate
  • Coordinate a site visit and conduct an onsite audit
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Maintain all requirements under the certifications including:

  • Personnel logs, background and drug test reports
  • Downstream reports
  • FM plan
  • Mass balancing reporting for upstream clients
  • Management team reports and internal site audits
  • EHS team reports

Bachelor's degree or equivalent.  5 years of direct work experience a must.

E-Stewards, NAID, RIOS, R2 ISO 140001, OSAS 180001 and ITAR certifications
