Safety & Health Manager (REQ 18205)

Aerojet Rocketdyne is seeking Safety & Health Manager to join our growing facility in Camden, Arkansas (REQ 18205)
Design, develop, implement and oversee the organization's safety and health programs and procedures. Safeguard employees by ensuring all site operations are operated in compliance with applicable local, state and federal regulations. Provide short and long-range strategic and tactical planning for safety and health programs and implement approved plans; provide technical leadership and functional guidance to site leadership team members and employees; establish and maintain regulatory compliance calendars; keep informed on all existing and proposed changes in safety and health regulations; and promote training and awareness to enhance and sustain a strong safety culture. The candidate will lead accident investigations, facilitate reviews to ensure SH&E criteria are met, conduct trainings on safe working conditions, practices, and proper use of safety equipment. Responsibilities include conducting periodic audits and inspections, implementing corrective and preventative actions, evaluating workplace hazards and implementing measures to control risks. This position reports to the site Director of SH&E, directly manages safety professionals and technicians, and works in a team environment.
SH&E Manager will be responsible for 5 safety engineers and 2 Safety Techs(III to IV level).
TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)
20% - Provides short and long-range strategic and tactical planning for safety and health programs.
20% - Provides guidance and direction to Safety Engineers. Mentors and motivates staff members, and align them with site goals and objectives.
15% - Leads investigation of incidents, near misses, compliance escapes, and customer issues. Ensures implementation of corrective and preventative actions appropriate to the magnitude of incidents and issues.
15% - Conducts routine audits and inspections to identify and eliminate non-compliance issues
10% - Leads systematic identification of hazards, assessing risks, and implementing controls to promote safe operations at the site
10% - Conducts training and communication campaigns to raise site-wide awareness on safety and health compliance, and safe work practices
10% - Fosters a strong safety culture of zero incidents and zero compliance escapes

The work environment may require a combination of indoor and outdoor activity (hot, cold, wet, humid conditions) with a varied amount of walking, standing, sitting, climbing (i.e. ladders, stair, scaffolding, ramps), balance (maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces), bending, reaching, handling/fingering (seizing, holding, grasping, turning picking, pinching), stooping, kneeling, crouching and ability to lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 pounds. Work may require the ability to operate material handling equipment (forklift, crane, hoist, man lift, etc.) in a safe manner. While performing the duties of this job, employees may work around variable noise levels or with fume or airborne particles, hazardous chemicals, etc. requiring the use of personal protective equipment such as face protection (safety glasses, goggles, face shield), foot protection (i.e. steel toed shoes, rubber boots, etc.), gloves, hard hat, shop coat and hearing protection. Work requires the ability to change into or out of personal protective equipment when entering or exiting manufacturing, laboratory, or other areas. Some employees may be required to drive between various locations within the Company facility or between locations. Work duties may also be required to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer and/or the ability to travel by air or auto. Ability to distinguish colors may also be necessary. This position may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
