Are you ready for new and exciting challenges? We are in need of an Industrial Hygienist within our Division of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH). In this role, you will enforce health standards by inspecting workplaces to address existing and potential occupational hazards. King County is the commerce capitol of Washington State; we need a talented industrial hygienist to join our team of professionals to help keep our community safe and working.
You'll be relied upon to assess exposures to physical, chemical and biological agents. Your skills will also be essential in evaluating hazards and programs in a wide variety of businesses such as construction in downtown Seattle, marijuana grow facilities, state-of-the-art research and development institutions, sports teams, entertainment clubs, aerospace businesses, asbestos abatement sites, healthcare facilities, and so much more. Who should apply?
Industrial Hygienist 3 In-training
A Bachelor's degree in occupational safety and/or health, industrial hygiene, chemistry, physics, chemical, mechanical or sanitary engineering, environmental science, nursing, medicine, biology or related field AND 1 year of experience as an industrial hygienist, safety and health manager, safety and health consultant, or as a chemist or engineer working on environmental health or air sanitation problems. A Master's degree involving major study in industrial hygiene will substitute for 1 year of experience.
Industrial Hygienist 3
A Bachelor's degree in occupational safety and/or health, industrial hygiene, chemistry, physics, chemical, mechanical or sanitary engineering, environmental science, nursing, medicine, biology or related field AND 3 years of experience as an industrial hygienist. (Industrial Hygiene experience must include the anticipation, recognition, evaluation and management of occupational health hazards such as chemical, physical and biological).
Please Note: A Master's degree involving major study in industrial hygiene will substitute for 1 year of industrial hygiene experience.
What we're looking for:
Within the Department of Labor & Industries, conditional to serious hazard exposure as defined by RCW 49.17.180(6): Industrial Hygienists and Safety & Health Specialists will be compensated basic salary plus ten percent (10%) for each hour they are required to use personal protective equipment (excluding hard hats, boots, hearing and eye protection) to enter a hazardous worksite to consult, inspect or investigate where serious hazards are present.
