Manager, Global Occupational Safety

Your Responsibilities

As the Manager, Global Occupational Safety for John Deere located in Moline, IL, you will design and implement global safety strategies and programs for all salary & wage employees, contingents, and contractors. You will champion and drive the company safety culture and ensure continuous improvement by incorporating emerging & leading industry practices as well as evolving manufacturing practices. In addition, you will:

  • Work with company leaders to establish a global vision and strategy for occupational safety.
  • Provide thought and strategic leadership to incorporate innovation, leading-edge industry concepts, and new technologies for safeguarding employees.
  • Provide direction and leadership to grow and sustain the company's safety culture.
  • Serve as a technical expert on legal matters & legislative trends.
  • Represent the company in trade associations as well as external policy and regulatory engagements.
  • Lead global functional safety groups including Ergonomics, Industrial Hygiene, and Audit.
  • Provide functional work direction and support for regional safety managers.
  • Direct and oversee Deere's corporate and third-party audit programs to ensure compliance with regulations and other legal requirements.

What Skills You Need

  • 8 or more years of experience in managing health and safety programs
  • 4 or more years of experience in case management, worker's compensation, mediation, and litigation
  • 4 or more years of manufacturing and/or operations experience
  • Strong understanding of health and safety regulations and requirements
  • Experience leading a large, complex manufacturing unit
  • Experience developing company strategies, culture, and messaging
  • Ability to travel domestically and/or internationally up to 25%
