Process Safety Management (PSM) Engineer

Location: Blue Racer office TBD (Cambridge, OH or Triadelphia, WV)

The Process Safety Management (PSM) Engineer will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of Blue Racer PSM program at applicable facilities.  This individual will interface with various levels of company employees and departments in order to develop and implement plans and processes that meet critical PSM compliance and critical business objectives

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide engineering input and guidance to ensure compliance of BRM facilities, operations, SOPs, training, and documentation with applicable PSM standards.
  • Provide engineering input and guidance to ensure all proposed BRM projects and facilities meet current RAGAGEP standards.
  • Coordinate timely implementation of required PSM activities and documentation for all applicable new, proposed, and modified BRM facilities and operations.
  • Responsible for overseeing the ongoing maintenance and enhancement BRM MI program and activities, in coordination with operations and engineering personnel; includes management of BRM MI system tracking tool.
  • Coordinate with engineering, construction and operations personnel to ensure complete and timely documentation and implementation of required PSM information and activities.
  • Participate in and, where appropriate, facilitate PHA studies for BRM facilities and projects.
  • Participate in new project design reviews, including providing input to ensure PSM compliance and opportunities for design / operability improvements.
  • Provide training to BRM employees on elements of PSM in order to meet corporate and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor and facilitate closure of all action items resulting from audits, internal reviews, incident investigations and PHA recommendations.
  • Function as supporting interface with regulatory agencies and third parties, as needed, on compliance and enforcement issues.
  • Coordinate the collection of process safety data for reporting and compliance purposes and provide analysis of data, including recommendations for improvement.
  • Provide budgetary estimates, as needed, for implementation of PSM programs and activities, including routine budget reports, analyses, and trends.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with key third party compliance consultants.
  • Participate in and support compliance audits as needed.

Job Requirements:

  • Knowledge and application of PSM requirements and practices.
  • Ability to perceive, analyze and resolve problems.  
  • Effectively communicate with company personnel.
  • Takes initiative and exhibits excellent engineering judgment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Civil or Natural Gas Engineering.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in engineering, construction, operation and maintenance of natural gas infrastructure or within a PSM regulated facility.


  • Superior oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically MS Word, Excel, Projects, VISIO and Outlook.
  • Prefer experience with PHA-Pro software
  • Experience with process and pipeline simulation software. (e.g., Promax, Hysis, Synergy, etc.)
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, handle interruptions, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced and growth-oriented environment.
