Regional Environmental, Health & Safety Manager

Job Summary
Based at our Willsboro, NY site location, the Regional EHS Manager role supports all aspects of the Imerys Safety System as well as EHS regulatory compliance with all governmental agencies. This role will lead the EHS programs across six operations within the Performance Minerals Americas Wollastonite - Mica business.  The position supports the development, implementation and administration of all aspects of Safety and Environmental programs within the perimeter.

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitor current and evolving Environmental, Health and Safety Regulations along with additional company requirements. 
  • Work closely with global and regional safety leaders across the company to develop, implement and measure success of safety programs.
  • Lead/participate in EHS audits/inspections of facilities and drive the support for corrective actions.
  • Lead/participate in on-site incident investigations and root cause analysis and drive the support for corrective actions.
  • Develop, support and measure contractor compliance with Imerys protocol.
  • Compile, analyze and interpret statistical data related to exposure factors concerning occupational illnesses and accidents.
  • Conduct/direct testing of workplace air quality, noise, temperature or radiation to verify compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Coordinate and Maintain all Industrial Hygiene personnel sampling equipment and required record keeping.
  • Coordinate/participate on all federal MSHA compliance inspections.
  • Strong ownership of all environmental aspects and applications of the operations including Title V, Air, Water and NPDES permitting.
  • Coordinate/participate on environmental agency compliance inspections.
  • Support operations leaders on reporting system for environmental aspects of maintenance such as bag house maintenance  monitoring for Title V reports
  • Monitor plant compliance with Title V air permits and other air regulations as applicable.
  • Monitor plant compliance with Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA)
  • Monitors plants Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures (SPCC) plan
  • Monitor plants Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SPPP)
  • Monitor plant compliance with Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) and other waste disposal regulations.
  • Monitor plant compliance with Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act (SARA) with a focus on Tier I, Tier II and Form R reporting as applicable.
  • Lead and/or participate in Process Hazards Analysis activities and participate in technical review of process changes as necessary.
  • Support the Preparation and review of Health and Safety training material
  • Support emergency response activities through the development of required drills and coordination of annual training


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate technical discipline (such as Chemical/Environmental/Safety Engineering or related area) or equivalent education and experience.
  • Strong experience with environmental permitting requirements.
  •   Understanding of Federal and State EHS regulations. 
  •   5-8 years’ experience in a mining or mining-related operations environment, with specific experience with MSHA regulations, standards and practices preferred
  • CMSP certification, MSHA Safety and Health Instructor certification and Environmental certifications are encouraged.
  • Overnight Travel up to 15%
