Position Purpose: 

The Safety Coordinator will provide site safety leadership, ensure facility compliance with corporate and customer safety standards, implement safety directives, improve safety performance, and ensure facility safety policies and procedures are aligned with governmental regulations. The Safety Coordinator will develop and implement safety awareness programs, initiatives, and training with the objective of zero incidents/injuries. This person will strongly influence the safety culture and reports to the Jenks HR/Safety Manager.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities:

  • Ensure all personnel are following all safety guidelines and standards and inspire commitment to compliance for an improved safety culture
  • Develop & share best practices for safe work standards
  • Develop/Maintain Safety A3 to track continuous overall safety improvement
  • Ensure OSHA and other government regulation adherence
  • Coordinate all training in the facility, and develop and/or present safety orientation to new employees
  • Develop and administer safety incentive / recognition program
  • Facilitate weekly safety meetings, and participate in safety project teams
  • Maintain accurate daily, weekly, and monthly metrics reporting, including Excel spreadsheets and related databases
  • Interface effectively with site customer, 3PL Partners, and all other personnel
  • Administer, track & report safety observations to identify trends and root causes and develop appropriate corrective actions to prevent further occurrences (e.g. JSAs)
  • Facilitate, investigate, and follow up on safety incident reports & conduct Four Step Problem Solving to eliminate hazards and future incidents
  • Use LEAN methodology to guide safety resolutions
  • Use “leading and lagging” indicator reports to identify and prioritize areas of opportunities
  • Collaborate with all functions of the business to ensure a safe work environment
  • Partner with HR on Workers’ Compensation claims
  • Continue to develop behavior based safety recognition program
  • Must be self-directed and have excellent organizational skills

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational, Safety, and Health
  • 1-3 years experience in safety related field
  • Must pass pre-employment test, background check, pre-employment and randomly administered drug tests

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years experience in Safety administration, preferably in a warehousing environment
  • OSHA 10/30
  • At least 1 year of supervisory experience
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and other electronic data technologies
  • Comfortable speaking to small and large groups
