Safety Manager

The Safety Manager will assist in the development and implementation of the safety, health and environmental programs and help to ensure field compliance with the corporate safety program and Client requirements. Assist with preliminary investigations of safety and health incidents and concerns.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to; the implementation, development, monitoring and managing the safety programs, policies and procedures, while ensuring compliance with all current safety regulations and assisting in the following:

• Job specific safety analyses, investigations and inspections to control operational and environmental work hazards that may impact on employee safety and health.
• Loss control activities.
• Pre-project, pre-phase and pre-task planning.
• Development of site-specific safety programs.
• Develop and revise JHA’s. Review and monitor subcontractor activities.
• Promote employee participation and conduct training sessions on a variety of topics.
• Develop, plan and implement safety education programs, demonstrations and toolbox talks.
• Develop knowledge of OSHA Construction, General Industry and other pertinent safety standards including, but not limited to: Ergonomics, Respiratory Protection, Electrical Safety (NFPA70E), Lockout/Tagout, Tool Safety, Hazard Communication, Fire Safety and Emergency Evacuation, Confined Spaces, Fall prevention, Ladder & Scaffolding, Hearing Conservation, Bloodborne Pathogens, and other aspects of safety as they pertain to Electrical Construction and Powerline Distribution systems.
• Document and track through correction all Accidents/incidents, safety violations, unsafe conditions, etc.
* Display strong problem solving and analytical skills.
• Work with little supervision and other duties as assigned.

The successful candidate must be able to pass; criminal background screening; drug and alcohol testing and have an acceptable driving record.

WRITTEN, ORAL AND COMPUTER SKILLS:
The candidate must have good written and verbal communication skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications; Word, Excel, PowerPoint and e-mail applications such as Microsoft Outlook. Must be able to effectively communicate well with a variety of craft workers, management, client and customer personnel.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree is preferred. An associate degree in safety or 5 years’ experience is required. Industrial hygiene, engineering, or other appropriate technical discipline and/or equivalent combination of education and construction experience is preferred. OSHA 500 required. CSP, ASP, STS, CHST, or OHST a plus. NFPA 70E and First Aid/CPR/AED training is highly desirable.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The candidate must have the ability to physically perform the duties and work in the environmental conditions required of this position, which may require frequent climbing of ladders and scaffolds to perform inspections and tests, perform visual examinations of mechanical devices and test articles; frequently stand and or walk for extended periods; sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include color and close vision, distance vision, and depth perception. Candidate may be required to wear respiratory protection, hearing protective devices, basic construction personal protective equipment and other safety equipment as deemed necessary.
