Safety Manager

Azteca Milling, L.P. takes safety seriously and requires all employees to use standard industry practices to keep everyone safe on the job.  The Safety Manager position requires an individual experienced in evaluating the safety protocol for a food manufacturing plant and grain elevators.

Brief Job Description:

  •  Implement and maintain a continuing education and safety promotional program for employees of the company.  
  • Obtain and prepare educational materials.  Prepare and schedule training sessions of all personnel and contractors.
  • Advise management regarding the necessary safety information and new regulatory requirements.  Be aware of state and federal laws, directives, standards, and codes dealing with employee safety.
  • Assist in the identification of potential physical hazards.
  • Perform regular facility inspections to identify potential hazards.
  • Prepare and maintain statistical reports on safety performance and activities for distribution to management.
  • Conduct, along with management, accident investigation and generate the incident/accident investigation reports including analysis of cause. 
  • Monitor work comp cases to assist in rapid closure of all claims.
  • Consult with plant managers and purchasing department on plans regarding proposed changes in process, equipment, and methods in regard to safety standards.
  • Coordinate requirements for insurance coverage for outside contractor services.
  • Select and identify the use of personal protective equipment.
  • Act as liaison between insurance carriers, state and federal agencies, and emergency services regarding safety.
  • Prepare department budget and monitor expenditure of funds in budget.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field and three years of experience in the safety field, or a combination of experience and education in the safety field.
  • Experience in dealing with worker’s comp, OSHA, and rules and regulations concerning safety issues.
  • Good communication and computer skills.
  • Minimum three years management experience.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish.
