Daifuku America Corporation is a leader in Design, Manufacturing, Installation and Support of automotive automation/material handling systems in North America. The company is currently seeking an experienced Safety Manager to join our team at the facility in Reynoldsburg, OH.
Responsibilities
The Safety Manager will be responsible for providing strong site safety administrative and supervisory support. The position administers safety and health programs at numerous facilities to eliminate or reduce the risk of injury and illness, promote the maintenance of employee health and safety through coaching, team building, open communications, and active involvement in the workplace. They are also responsible for ensuring health and safety programs and hazard identification and control and complying with company, plant, and federal regulations.
Other Responsibilities
Write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
Investigate and provide accurate reports on all accidents/incidents, ensuring causes are identified and recommendations are appropriate
Analyze accident/incident trends and develop/implement recommendations to improve safety behaviors and plant safety record
Motivate employees to meet or exceed organizational expectations
Explore and implement ways to recognize and encourage employee performance and document plant and individual safety performance achievements
Initiate regular meetings with the Plant Managers to set personal goals and measure performance
Maintain working knowledge of Company policies, procedures, and government regulations
Qualifications
Experience in training and taking a proactive approach with regard to recordable incidents and meeting goals of the company
Experience in assuring compliance with all OSHA regulations at various sites
Physically capable of standing, walking, bending, pushing, pulling, reaching, and twisting on job sites to inspect for safety
Good decision-making skills and ability to perform in stressful situations
Must have a background in safety
Must possess strong knowledge of OSHA Rules and Regulations
Must be experienced in automotive and conveyor systems
Must be willing to work Overtime, weekends, and holidays such as Christmas, Easter, and July 4th
Must be able to travel an average of 40-50% of the time during peak times.
Interpersonal and Communication Skills:
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work under tight deadlines with limited supervision
Ability to effectively communicate both oral and written to the company executives and business partners
Establish and maintain good working relationships with the peers, management & leaders of the business area
Assume accountability and take ownership for ALL projects that you are responsible and involved in
Education and Experience
B.A. or B.S. in Organizational Development or Management, related discipline, or equivalent experience
Six Sigma helpful
OSHA 500, 501n 510 or 511 preferred (or combination thereof)
OSHA 30 Hour in General or Construction Industry
Must possess basic P/C skills, MS Word and Excel, MS Outlook
Must possess knowledge of machine operator equipment such as is used by Welders, Crane Operators and Field Service Engineers
Experience in the Manufacturing Industry is preferred
SAP FI certification is a plus
Passport a plus
