Safety & Operator Qualifications Administrator

This role will be responsible for assisting in the implementation of Teichert’s Injury Prevention and Safety Program and Operator Qualifications program in order to promote and maintain a zero-injury culture.

Specifically, supports safe and healthy working conditions through inspections, reports, recommendations and training to promote safety consciousness. This position will also perform a variety of tasks supporting the Pipelines Safety and Compliance requirements for the company.  

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Actively supports the achievement of Safety goals and objectives by applying knowledge of industry safety in Pipelines.
  • Establishes,promotes, and protects Teichert Pipeline’s values including diversity, teamwork, fair work environment, and respect of others.  Maintains a “team” spirit within the business unit.  Works and cooperates with other disciplines (across company lines) to ensure maximum and best use of resources.
  • Continuously strives to improve day-to-day processes and practices in safety; ensures project activities remain focused on safety; considers customer expectations and feedback to make recommendations for improvement.
  • Collaborates across business units and builds consistency in safety practices and procedures on all project efforts. Ensures policies, procedures, and standards are adhered to as well as protect the company’s interests.
  • Actively supports administrative function goals and objectives through completing technical/ administrative projects accurately and on time, providing ongoing support as required, and proactively resolving challenges and issues as they pertain to office services.
  • Aspires to achieve a zero injury culture through visible support of Teichert’s Injury Prevention and Safety program, the implementation/interpretation of safety programs, active facilitation or participation in safety meetings and training sessions, and ensuring required safety training for craft is completed; reviews safety related topics with craft to keep them abreast of current changes/improvements to program;participates in conducting craft safety orientation training program.

Contributes to the smooth operation of Teichert Pipeline Safety compliance by providing support to the business unit which may include some or all of the following: 

  • Push HCSS reports to team (Good Catches, Incident Reports, WAO, Excavation Reports, etc.)
  • Keep team updated on return to work and injury progress (Coordinated Weekly with Risk Manager)
  • Maintain a running log of incident, accident and theft costs (Quarterly Safety Meeting Prep)
  • Weekly good catch reporting (internal and to clients)
  • Good catch tracking and drafting weekly tailgate
  • ISN monthly metrics and monitor (PG&E, Sempra, Kinder Morgan)
  • Process ISN Cards for new hires.
  • Safety Training upload into HCSS & ISN
  • Safety training tracking
  • Schedule and track New Employee Orientation for all new hires
  • Safety and Operator Qualification Training Support
  • Maintain and Update Training materials
  • Time Cards 
  • Spot check JSA's for safety and PG&E compliance
  •  Onboarding upload and test proctor
  • Gold Shovel monthly reporting
  • Safety meeting and committee minutes
  • Op Qual Tracking
  • OP Qual Scheduling Support with Superintendents
  • Process OP Qual and Safety Training Time Sheets
  • Monitor Compliance messages for upcoming Audits and changes to Covered Tasks, then communicate those messages both internally and to Pipeline Partners.
  • Tracking of: 
    • Good Catches (for participation)
    • Tailgate Topics (weekly for compliance and for Mandatory training) 
    • G4 forms 
    • Other OSHA record keeping (JSA's)
    • Scheduling,collecting, and tracking: 
    •  Pipelines mandatory Safety Alerts
    •  Client specific mandatory safety and compliance meetings  
    • Tailgate Topics
  • Logging mandatory weekly safety call in roster and sending out notes for safety meetings (Loop Up)
  • Schedule annual Fire Extinguisher Compliance
  • Process Boot and Glasses Reimbursements
  • Track and distribute Monthly Driver Risk Ratings (Drive Cam)
  • Maintain a weekly 2-week composite schedule of Foreman job locations pulled from the Dist, Trans, and HPR schedules.
  • Support field safety incident reporting and occasional site visits to facilitate incident investigations.
  • Misc. onsite safety auditing as appropriate

Qualifications & Requirements  


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Health & Safety, or a Safety related field, or equivalent combination of technical training and related experience. 

Experience & Industry Expertise:

  • Preferred to have knowledge of heavy civil and underground construction safety.

Specific Job Requirements:

  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug, alcohol, and background investigation
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Current on all company required safety and regulatory training
  • Ability to preserve confidential and proprietary information and successfully avoid conflicts-of-interest
  • Knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite (primarily MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint) skills required and the ability and willingness to learn new software applications
  • Excellent organizational skills, communications skills, the ability to multi-task, and most importantly, the ability to work well in a team
  • Problem solving skills, and the ability to set and meet deadlines
  • Be able to communicate with people at a variety of levels within the organization (Leadman, Foreman, Superintendents, and upper Management). Be professional in engaging in safety related issues.

The physical demands and work environment characteristics are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.   Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Physical:   Sitting for long periods of time working at the computer or driving to job sites. Job site visits require walking on uneven ground, climbing, bending, stooping, crawling in confined or enclosed spaces.   Some lifting of materials and equipment up to 50 lbs. Close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. May work long hours during peak seasons.
Work Environment:   Exposed to the conditions of job sites which can include loud noise, dust, fumes, and extreme weather conditions prevalent at the time. May work various shifts or hours, including early mornings, dusk or evenings. Typical office environment with adequate temperatures and lighting, low levels of noise.
