Senior Regulatory Toxicologist

Georgia-Pacific's Product Safety and Product Stewardship team is looking for a Senior Regulatory Toxicologist in Atlanta, GA.

The position is responsible for supporting the innovation and product development capability of Georgia-Pacific Consumer Products (Paper Products, Home Care Products, Cosmetics and OTC Products, Food Packaging), Packaging, Cellulose, Building Products, and Chemicals Division as a toxicology expert on product safety and regulatory compliance matters.  This position will be responsible for ensuring sound, credible science within the appropriate regulatory framework is used to comply with regulations and provide quantitative and qualitative information for decision making.

A Day In The Life Typically Includes:

* Directing, developing, and mentoring team of toxicologists/product stewards, and ensure resources are aligned with business priorities
* Tracking state, federal, and international chemical legislative and regulatory developments and identify areas of risk for GP 
* Advocating in partnership with industry trade associations, task forces, and coalitions on legislative, regulatory, and market-driven emerging chemical issues.
* Supporting innovation and R&D across GP businesses through application of relevant chemical/ingredient risk assessments, in vitro, clinical, and in silico approaches.
* Understanding state, federal, and international regulations including but not limited to TSCA, FDA Food Contact laws, FDA Cosmetic and OTC laws, OSHA HAZCOM and California’s Proposition 65 and properly apply to GP businesses.
* Developing scientific strategies to support marketing and R&D claims.
* Overseeing chemical control programs to ensure GP businesses and facilities are in compliance with applicable chemical control laws such as TSCA and DSL.
* Developing collaborative relationships with cross-functional partners such as Legal, Sustainability, R&D, Business Category, and Marketing/Sales. 

What You Will Need:

Basic Qualifications:

* A PhD in Toxicology, Biochemistry, Biology/Chemistry major/minor or related science
* A minimum of seven (7) years professional experience in the Consumer Products or Chemical Industry
* Experience in ingredient/chemical risk assessment, design and interpretation of toxicology studies/data (in vivo, in vitro, clinical, in silico)
* Regulatory knowledge of state, federal, and international chemical laws to include: TSCA, California Proposition 65, OSHA HAZCOM, CSPA FHSA
* Able to travel approximately 20%  

What Will Put You Ahead?

Preferred Qualifications:
* A minimum of two (2) years managing and developing personnel
* Knowledge of US FDA and International Food Contact Regulations, US FDA OTC and Cosmetic Regulations
* Experience in environmental toxicology
* Ten (10) years professional experience in the Consumer Products or Chemistry Industry
