Site Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager

The Challenge:
Manage and provide direction for the Safety, Health, Environmental and Security programs for DSM Engineering Plastics at the Evansville, IN location while maintaining: 

  • DSM corporate SHE and Security Requirements
  • License to Operate requirements
  • Federal, state and local SHE regulations (OSHA, EPA)
  • Continuing improvement in SHE performance indicators.
  • All government or corporate permits and reports are in place and on time

The Position: 

  • Have a complete knowledge of national and local SHE requirements with special consideration to OSHA and EPA requirements.
  • Understand the requirements of ISO 14001 & RC 14001 and maintain a registered program to this standard
  • Act as an advisor / advocate to the Site Manager and other department managers and supervisors in the formulation and implementation of policies and procedures concerning SHE and Security
  • Communicates and provides training to all employees within the organization concerning SHE & Security
  • SHE & Security Plan and procedures – Manage development and implementation.  Evaluate performance & reporting status
  • Champion for SHE training requirements (Employee Training Requirements (ETR))
  • Performs special projects and related duties as assigned
  • Leads small group of EHS professionals (1 direct report and 1 indirect report)

The Ideal: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, or relevant engineering degree and experience;
  • Must have at least 7 years of experience in the fields of safety & health or environmental
  • Specialized training in worker’s compensation, a plus
  • Knowledge of OSHA Regulations and applicable federal, state, and local regulations
  • Professional certification is recommended, Certified Safety Professional or Certified Industrial Hygienist
