Utilities Safety Director

Gainesville Regional Utilities (GRU), the 5th largest municipal electric utility in Florida, is seeking a Safety Director to lead in the design and implementation of safety programs across all facets of the GRU.

 The ideal candidate will possess the ability to maintain positive working relationships and act as a strategic partner with the General Manager – Utilities, Chief Operating Officer, the City's Risk Management Director, and the major department leaders at GRU; ensure the accuracy and completeness of records of training, inspections, audits, and required regulatory documentation; and act as the Utility's representative with local, state, federal agencies, City insurance adjusters and City legal staff, as required.

 To be considered for this career opportunity you must possess a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in industrial engineering, safety engineering, occupational safety and health, or related subject and ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience as a safety and/or safety training professional, with at least four (4) years of experience in managing and developing safety programs/culture in the utility or similar industry at a senior leadership level. 

At least four (4) years of supervisory experience with responsibilities in safety and/or safety training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. AA/DFWP/EOE
